I saw Original!Charlie as being closer to Dean.

Rowena I see as closer to Sam

I like Rowena and Sams relationship. Its interesting. I think one day I will have to go through and just watch all the episodes where they interact in a meaningful way. I hadn't really paid much attention but now that Sam is holding the power I want to go back and look a little more closely.

I see Dean and Cas as closest and not in a festy Desti way. It nice for Dean to have that close friendship, as he didn't really have any growing up and was constantly chasing his fathers approval. Castiel wouldn't have the humanity he does if Dean did not model it to him. Dean has someone other than Sam to turn to and has shown how much Cass is able to hurt him via behaviour previous seasons. I am not one to enjoy those big "I forgive you" speeches and I think I see too many on tv. Real life moves on. They happen at times, but don't always. I am SURE someone has made a list of all the episodes these two are interacting in together somewhere on the world wide web.

I feel like Crowley & Dean were also closer. I think in general Sam felt more isolated, which seems the opposite of what you would think based on their personalities. Dam more wants to help people than buddy with them, like Jack or Nick.

I know a lot of fanfics ship Sam and Gabriel, but I don't really see Gabriel has being that closer to either of them.

Actually, I kinda see Gabriel being slightly closer to Dean, at least before his return in S13, especially because of the events of Hammer of the Gods, where Dean is the one who convinces Gabriel to stand up to his brother. But other than that, I'm with you, I don't get the Sabriel pairing, at least Destiel has something to build from, even if I don't personally ship that either.

I do see Sam as closer to Lucifer as well, but maybe that's also because of the hallucinations too?

I think it's only natural to think of Sam and Lucifer as closer than Dean and Lucifer, even if the closeness is due to bad, traumatic reasons.

I forgot about the hallucinations! Yeah that would make sense.

Dean seems closer to Mary but probably cos he had memories of her.

Bobby though, I'm not sure, I think probably Dean

I think it's very telling that, when they had that shapeshifter kid in S6, Sam wanted him to be named John, but Dean's first instinct was Bobby. Yeah, I agree that both Mary and OG!Bobby was closer with Dean.

I would say both Ellen and Jo were closer to Dean too. Although I think they couldn't decide if Jo should have been a love interest or a sister/friend.

Garth?

Actually, I think Garth was very equal to them both, I don't feel that he was closer with either, except for his very first episode where he barely knew Sam but got to know Dean. Other than that, that's a good pick

I think Jack started closer to Sam, but got closer to Dean over time, however Cas was the one he was closest to
